Doctors test cord blood cells as potential new treatment for aggressive MS

NCT ID NCT04943289

Summary

This early-stage study tested whether injecting specialized cells from donated umbilical cord blood into the spinal fluid is safe for adults with primary progressive multiple sclerosis (PPMS). Twenty participants received a single injection of these cells and were monitored for one year to check for side effects. Researchers also looked for early signs that the treatment might help slow disease progression or improve symptoms.
