Mattress sensor tracks breathing to predict COPD recovery

NCT ID NCT07361744

Summary

This study aims to understand how breathing patterns during sleep change as patients recover from a sudden worsening of COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) in the hospital. Researchers will monitor 60 hospitalized patients using a standard sleep test and a special sensor placed under the mattress that tracks breathing without touching the patient. The goal is to see if changes in nighttime breathing can help doctors better predict a patient's recovery and decide the safest time for them to go home.
