Gas sedation could help COPD patients avoid breathing tubes

NCT ID NCT07191470

Summary

This study tested whether a light, inhaled gas medicine (isoflurane) could help adults with severe COPD flare-ups tolerate a non-invasive breathing mask better. The goal was to see if this gentle sedation made patients more comfortable, improved their breathing, and reduced the need for a breathing tube. Researchers monitored 10 patients for 24 hours to check safety and comfort levels.
