First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests whether special reflective roof coatings can lower indoor temperatures and improve health during extreme heat. About 800 adults in Colima, Mexico, will wear smartwatches to track heart rate, sleep, and physical activity. Half the homes will get a cool roof, and the other half will not, so researchers can compare the effects.
