Back surgery showdown: which spinal fusion works better?

NCT ID NCT01024699

Summary

This study compared two common spinal fusion surgeries (XLIF and TLIF) for adults with a slipped vertebra causing back and leg pain. Fifty-five patients who hadn't improved with other treatments were randomly assigned to one of the two procedures. Researchers measured which surgery led to better pain relief and improved function over two years.
