New foam dressing may speed healing of skin graft wounds

NCT ID NCT07257991

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This trial compares two dressings for the wound left after taking a skin graft: standard paraffin gauze versus a foam soaked in povidone-iodine. Researchers want to see which one helps the wound heal faster, needs fewer changes, and causes less pain. About 82 people having skin grafts will take part, and their donor sites will be checked for up to 14 days.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

povidone-iodine foam dressing

What this could lead to

If it works, this could show that povidone-iodine foam helps donor sites heal faster and with less pain than standard gauze.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage trial with only 82 people, so results may not apply to everyone. The dressing may not speed healing or could cause irritation.
