New keyhole spine surgery could offer faster relief for back pain sufferers

NCT ID NCT07303348

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study compares a newer, less invasive spine surgery called unilateral biportal endoscopy (UBE) to traditional open surgery for people with a specific type of lower back and leg pain caused by a slipped vertebra and narrowed spinal canal. The goal is to see if the newer technique provides similar or better pain relief and recovery. About 200 adults who have not improved with at least 3 months of non-surgical treatments will participate.
