Spine surgery showdown: which procedure offers better pain relief?

NCT ID NCT07289737

First seen Dec 17, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study compares two types of spine surgery for a condition called degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis, where a spine bone slips forward and causes pain. Researchers want to see if a newer, less invasive surgery (biportal endoscopic decompression) works better than a standard surgery (fusion) for relieving pain and improving movement. The study will involve 100 adults aged 50 to 90 who have not gotten better with non-surgical treatments like medication or physical therapy.
