New heart procedure tested against standard for irregular heartbeat
NCT ID NCT05534581
Summary
This study compares two different medical procedures used to treat a common type of irregular heartbeat called paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. Both procedures work by isolating the problematic heart veins, but one uses a newer pulsed field energy method while the other uses the standard freezing (cryoballoon) technique. The trial aims to see if the newer method works as well as the standard one and if it might be safer. It involves 210 patients who are having this type of procedure for the first time.
