Could a gentler hormone strategy be just as effective for advanced thyroid cancer?
NCT ID NCT06790589
First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study compares two ways of using thyroid hormone medication to suppress TSH in people with advanced thyroid cancer that has spread or returned. The standard approach keeps TSH very low (below 0.1), but this can cause side effects. The study will test if a slightly higher TSH target (0.1 to 0.5) works just as well to keep cancer from growing. About 70 adults in Alberta will take part, and researchers will track cancer progression and symptom burden over one year.
