Could a milder hormone dose control advanced thyroid cancer just as well?
NCT ID NCT06790589
First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study compares two ways of using thyroid hormone (levothyroxine) to suppress TSH in people with advanced thyroid cancer that has spread or returned. The current standard keeps TSH very low (below 0.1), but this can cause side effects. The study will test if a slightly higher TSH target (0.1 to 0.5) is just as safe and effective at keeping the cancer from growing. About 70 adults in Alberta will take part, and the main goal is to see how many are alive and cancer-free after one year.
