Summary

This study compares two ways to treat severe diabetic macular edema, a condition where fluid builds up in the center of the retina and blurs vision. One group gets standard anti-VEGF eye injections alone; the other group starts with injections and switches to a gentle laser once the retina thins enough. The goal is to see if the laser approach works just as well while possibly reducing the number of injections needed. About 264 adults with diabetes and severe macular edema will take part.
