First seen Jan 19, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study compares two standard first treatments for severe aplastic anemia, a condition where the bone marrow stops making enough blood cells. One treatment is a stem cell transplant from a half-matched donor, and the other is a combination of drugs that suppress the immune system. The study will follow 116 people aged 14 to 70 to see which approach leads to better survival and recovery, with fewer side effects.
