Back surgery breakthrough? study tests which cage helps bones heal better

NCT ID NCT05583864

Summary

This study compares two FDA-approved cages used in spinal fusion surgery to see which helps bones heal together better. About 108 adults with chronic back pain will have surgery using either a porous titanium cage or a titanium-coated plastic cage, then be followed for up to 2 years. Researchers will use X-rays and patient surveys to see which cage leads to more successful bone fusion and better pain relief.
