New prosthetic liners battle sweat and slippage for amputees
NCT ID NCT03900845
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 33 times
Summary
This study compared three different lower-limb prosthetic systems to find which one stays most secure and comfortable when it's hot and sweaty. Twenty below-knee amputees wore each prosthesis for two weeks at home and then walked on a treadmill in a hot, humid room. Researchers measured how much the prosthesis slipped and how much sweat built up, aiming to improve skin health and confidence for active users.
