New study aims to improve Post-Birth tear care for mothers

NCT ID NCT07124676

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at two different ways to classify second-degree perineal tears that can happen during a vaginal birth. The goal is to see which system better predicts problems like pain, bleeding, hidden muscle injury, and sexual function after delivery. About 482 women who have a spontaneous vaginal birth with a second-degree tear will be enrolled. Their tears will be classified using both systems, and they will be followed with standard checkups, pain scores, and a sexual health questionnaire.
