New plastic bar for dentures may save jaw bone, study finds
NCT ID NCT07323628
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested two types of bars that connect a lower denture to two implants in the jaw. One bar was made of metal, the other of a flexible plastic called PEEK. Twenty adults who had trouble with their lower denture took part. The goal was to see which bar made patients happier and caused less bone loss around the implants. Results showed both bars worked well, but the PEEK bar led to slightly less bone loss and similar patient satisfaction.
