Summary

This study looks at two different ways of treating people who have both a serious mental illness and a substance abuse problem and have committed a crime. Italy uses small community homes, while the US uses large secure hospitals. Researchers will follow 600 participants for three years to see which system leads to better recovery and less repeat offending.
