New study tests if extra blood thinner can prevent second heart attacks in rare artery condition

NCT ID NCT07511257

First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated Jun 03, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looks at 326 adults who recently had a heart attack and have a condition called coronary artery ectasia, where the heart arteries are abnormally widened. The goal is to see if adding a blood thinner (rivaroxaban) to one antiplatelet drug works better than the usual two antiplatelet drugs at preventing another heart attack or the need for another procedure, without causing too much bleeding. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatment groups and followed for major heart events and bleeding.
