Portable device may replace costly anal pressure test for moms with birth tears

NCT ID NCT07083908

First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tested whether a lightweight, portable device (THD® Anopress) gives the same results as the standard, more expensive machine for measuring anal muscle strength in women who had severe tears during childbirth. 53 women who had these tears and were at least 6 weeks postpartum took part. The goal was to see if the simpler device could be used instead, making testing easier and cheaper.
