Which pressure point gives the best view? new study aims to improve intubation success

NCT ID NCT07004998

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests whether pressing on the left side of the windpipe (paratracheal) or on the cricoid cartilage gives a better view of the voice box when placing a breathing tube using a video laryngoscope. Fifty adults having planned surgery will each experience all three conditions (no pressure, cricoid pressure, paratracheal pressure) in random order. The goal is to find which technique helps doctors see the airway most clearly, potentially reducing complications during intubation.
