Scientists test flu shots Head-to-Head in rare timing study

NCT ID NCT06567860

Summary

This study aimed to understand how the immune system responds when the flu vaccine formula is updated each year. Researchers gave 23 healthy adults the 2023 vaccine very late in the flu season (May-June 2024) to directly compare its effects with the newer 2024 vaccine. The goal was to gather better data on how vaccine updates work, which is normally hard to measure because the old formula expires before the new one is given.
