First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study tests whether community health workers can effectively fit hearing aids using smartphones in low- and middle-income areas. About 90 adults with mild to severe hearing loss will receive either a smartphone-based fitting, a pre-set hearing aid, or minimal amplification. The goal is to see if these simpler methods improve hearing and quality of life as well as traditional fittings.
