New device aims to spare rectal cancer patients from colostomy bags

Summary
This study tests a device called ColoSeal ICD that is placed inside the body after rectal cancer surgery to protect the surgical connection. The goal is to see if it can reduce the need for a temporary colostomy bag and lower the risk of serious complications. About 250 adults aged 22-75 with rectal cancer will take part.
