Water method in colonoscopy aims to spot more hidden polyps

NCT ID NCT07456007

Summary

This study tested if using water instead of air to inflate the right side of the colon during a colonoscopy helps doctors find more polyps, which are growths that can turn into cancer. 414 patients having a routine colonoscopy were randomly assigned to have either the standard air method or a new method using water in the right colon. The goal was to see if the water method improved detection without taking much extra time.
