Summary
This study looked back at 119 colon cancer surgery patients in Syria to understand what causes dangerous internal leaks after surgery. Researchers found that fixing low protein levels before surgery and improving care during and after the operation were key. After the hospital created new guidelines based on these findings, they saw fewer leaks and deaths in a later group of patients.
