Old drug, new hope: epilepsy medication tested to fight colon cancer

NCT ID NCT05694936

Summary

This study is testing if adding an existing drug called sodium valproate (used for epilepsy) to standard maintenance cancer drugs helps people with a specific type of advanced colorectal cancer live longer without their cancer getting worse. It will involve about 90 adults whose cancer has spread and who have already completed initial chemotherapy. The main goal is to see if the new combination keeps the cancer under control for a longer time compared to the standard drugs alone.
