Green tea extract under the scanner: can PET imaging reveal its effect on lung scarring?

NCT ID NCT06265532

First seen Jan 28, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tested a special PET scan that can detect collagen, a protein that builds up in scarred lungs. The goal was to see if this scan could measure the effect of a green tea extract called EGCG in people with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Twelve participants who were already in a larger EGCG study received the PET scan to track changes in lung collagen. The study was completed and focused on whether the scan could help choose the right dose of EGCG.
