Can a daily collagen drink fix dry skin? new trial aims to find out
NCT ID NCT07529249
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is testing whether taking collagen peptides by mouth for three months can improve the skin barrier in women aged 45 to 70 with dry, sensitive skin. Seventy-five participants will receive either a low dose, a high dose, or a placebo (flavored water). The main goal is to measure changes in skin barrier function on the face using a device called a Tewameter.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
collagen-derived peptides (dietary supplement)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple daily supplement to improve skin hydration and barrier function for women with dry skin.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with no phase designation, so results may not be conclusive. Dietary supplements often show modest effects, and the placebo response can be strong.
