Could a collagen wrap save your jawbone for better dental implants?
NCT ID NCT07580495
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether adding a resorbable collagen membrane to a bone graft helps preserve the shape and volume of the jawbone after a tooth is removed. Thirty adults with a missing front tooth and significant bone loss will receive either the bone graft alone or with the membrane. After about 4 months, scans will measure bone changes to see if the membrane improves outcomes for future dental implant placement.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
resorbable collagen membrane (InterCollagen® Guide) and anorganic bone-collagen composite (ABCC, SigmaGraft®)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could improve the success of dental implants by maintaining jawbone shape after tooth extraction, reducing the need for additional bone grafting.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 30 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The collagen membrane may not provide significant benefit over the bone graft alone, and there are risks like infection or poor healing.
