NCT ID NCT07676604
First seen Jun 30, 2026 · Last updated Jul 02, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether a daily probiotic supplement called Colipral® can prevent repeat bladder infections (cystitis) in menopausal women aged 55–70. Participants take either the probiotic or a placebo for 12 weeks and are monitored for 24 weeks to see if they have fewer infections, need fewer antibiotics, and feel better overall. The goal is to find a safe, non-antibiotic way to manage this common condition.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Colipral® (probiotic strain Escherichia coli 5C (ECP24®))
What this could lead to
If effective, this probiotic could offer a non-antibiotic way to prevent recurrent cystitis in menopausal women, reducing antibiotic use and improving quality of life.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with 134 participants. The probiotic may not prove better than placebo, and individual results may vary.
