Chill out: cold cushion may tame burning patch pain
NCT ID NCT02869867
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 31 times
Summary
This study looked at whether using a cold cushion before placing a high-concentration capsaicin patch (Qutenza®) can reduce the burning pain it causes. One hundred adults with localized nerve pain that didn't respond to standard treatments took part. Half got the patch alone, and half got the patch plus a cold pack. The main goal was to measure burning pain one hour after the patch was applied.
