New study aims to make nose surgery safer for the heart

NCT ID NCT07425834

First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study will compare two techniques used during septoplasty (nose surgery to fix a deviated septum): cold dissection and electrocautery. The goal is to see which method causes fewer sudden drops in heart rate during the operation. About 120 adults aged 18 to 60 who need this surgery will take part, and researchers will also measure blood pressure changes and how much force is used during surgery.
