Common gout drug tested as potential heart helper for high blood pressure
NCT ID NCT04916522
Summary
This study is testing whether a low dose of the anti-inflammatory drug colchicine can improve heart and blood vessel function in people with high blood pressure. About 150 adults already taking blood pressure medication will take either colchicine or a placebo pill daily for six months. Researchers will measure blood vessel stiffness, blood pressure, and heart structure to see if the drug provides additional benefits beyond standard treatment.
