Old gout drug may boost heart health in hypertension patients

Summary

This study tests whether colchicine, a common anti-inflammatory drug, can improve blood vessel stiffness and heart function in 150 adults with high blood pressure who also have diabetes, high cholesterol, or take multiple blood pressure medications. Participants take colchicine or a placebo for 6 months to see if it lowers blood pressure and reduces heart strain.
