Special coated nail aims to stop dangerous bone infections after leg breaks

Summary
This study is testing whether a new antibacterial-coated metal rod used to fix broken leg bones can prevent serious infections better than standard rods. Researchers will compare infection rates in 500 patients with severe tibia fractures over one year. The coated nail is designed to reduce the risk of fracture-related infections, which are difficult to treat and can delay healing.
