Doctors test CO2 blood test to better treat Life-Threatening shock

NCT ID NCT05032521

Summary

This study tested whether using a special blood test that measures carbon dioxide (CO2) levels could help doctors better treat critically ill patients in shock. The goal was to see if this CO2-guided approach was more effective at lowering high lactate levels—a sign of severe stress in the body—than the usual treatment methods. The trial involved 180 adult patients in intensive care who had shock and elevated lactate.
