Summary

This study looked at whether measuring the amount of carbon dioxide in a person's breath could help doctors quickly identify dangerous blood clots in the lungs (pulmonary embolism) and see if treatments are working. Researchers followed 120 people—some with serious clots, some with less serious clots, and some healthy—and tracked their breath CO₂ levels along with other vital signs. The goal was to see if this simple, non-invasive test could help determine which patients need the strongest clot-busting medications.
