Summary
This study tested a program that screens all pregnant women for cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection during their first trimester. Over 3,300 women in Catalonia, Spain, took part to see how common CMV is and how often it leads to problems for the baby. The goal was to learn if universal screening can help detect and manage CMV infections early in pregnancy.
