Searching for early clues to prevent lifelong disability in infected babies

NCT ID NCT01923636

Summary

This study aimed to identify early signs in newborns that could predict which babies born with cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection would develop long-term hearing loss or brain problems. Researchers followed 254 infected babies from birth to age 2, tracking their health, brain scans, and lab tests. The goal was to create a scoring system to help doctors identify high-risk infants early for closer monitoring.
