Experimental combo shot for pancreatic cancer stalls after just 2 patients

NCT ID NCT04387071

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This very early trial tested two immune-stimulating drugs injected directly into tumors for people with stage IV pancreatic cancer. The goal was to see if the combination could shrink tumors or slow their growth. However, the study was stopped early after enrolling only 2 participants, so we have very little information about how well it worked or what side effects it caused.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

CMP-001 (a virus-like particle that activates the immune system) and INCAGN01949 (an antibody that stimulates immune cells)

What this could lead to

If it had worked, this approach could have pointed toward a new way to treat advanced pancreatic cancer by using the body's own immune system to attack tumors.

What could go wrong

This trial was very early (phase 1/2) and was terminated after only 2 participants, so we have almost no data on whether it works or is safe. The combination may cause immune-related side effects.
