Clean stoves, cleaner lungs? rwanda trial tests health benefits of solar and gas
NCT ID NCT05668624
Summary
This study tested whether providing cleaner cooking and lighting options—like solar power and gas stoves—instead of traditional wood-burning and kerosene lamps could improve the health of families in rural Rwanda. Researchers followed 650 households for three years to see if the cleaner energy led to lower blood pressure in adults and better lung development in children. The goal was to understand if reducing indoor air pollution from smoke can help control long-term health risks.
