Engineered immune cells take aim at a common cancer target in Hard-to-Treat tumors
NCT ID NCT07680257
First seen Jul 02, 2026 · Last updated Jul 02, 2026
Summary
This early study tests a new treatment called SUV2208A, which uses a patient's own immune cells (T cells) that have been modified in a lab to recognize and attack cancer cells carrying a protein called CLDN18.2. The trial enrolls up to 18 adults with advanced solid tumors that have not responded to standard treatments. Researchers are primarily looking at safety and the right dose, while also checking how long the cells last in the body and whether they have any effect on the tumors.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
SUV2208A (CLDN18.2-targeted CAR T cells)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a new treatment option for people with advanced solid tumors that express CLDN18.2 and have not responded to standard therapies.
What could go wrong
This is a very early, small study (18 people) focused on safety and dosing. CAR T cell therapies can cause serious side effects, and it is unknown if this approach will shrink tumors or improve survival.
