New study reveals how kidney drugs change Body's water and salt handling
NCT ID NCT05884866
First seen Apr 28, 2026 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looked at how two medications—dapagliflozin and balcinrenone—affect the way the body manages water, salt, and energy in people over 50 with stage 3 chronic kidney disease. Over 100 participants took one of four treatments (dapagliflozin alone, balcinrenone alone, both, or a placebo) daily for 28 days. The goal was to understand the drugs' effects on kidney function and body fluid balance, not to treat the disease directly.
