Chocolate before the desk: could it shield your heart?
NCT ID NCT07556627
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether eating dark, milk, or white chocolate an hour before sitting for three hours can help maintain healthy blood pressure and heart function. Twenty-two healthy adults aged 18 to 40 will try each type of chocolate on separate days. Researchers will measure blood pressure, heart rate, and other heart health markers before and during the sitting period.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
chocolate (dark, milk, white)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could suggest that a small amount of dark chocolate before long periods of sitting may help protect heart health.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 22 healthy adults, so results may not apply to everyone. The effects are measured over just a few hours, so long-term benefits are unknown.
