Seafood-Based sponge tested for faster skin healing

NCT ID NCT07472465

Summary

This study tested if a dressing made from a material found in shellfish (chitosan sponge) works as well as a standard hydrocolloid dressing for healing the area where skin is taken for a graft. In 22 patients, each person's wound was split in half and treated with both dressings to compare them directly. Researchers checked how fast the skin healed, the level of pain and itching, and the quality of the scar over six months.
