Could a natural brush beat metal tools for implant gum disease?

NCT ID NCT06830200

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study compares a chitosan brush (made from a natural substance) to a standard titanium tool for treating peri-implantitis, a gum infection around dental implants that can cause bone loss. Sixty adults with the condition will receive non-surgical cleaning with one of the two tools. Researchers will track gum health and immune markers over 12 months to see which approach works better.
