Scientists track 1,000+ kids for 5 years to unlock secrets of childhood colds and pneumonia
NCT ID NCT07249996
Summary
This study aims to understand why young children get respiratory infections, what makes some cases severe, and how these illnesses affect long-term health. Researchers will follow over 1,000 newborns in Colombia and Panamá for five years, collecting samples during illnesses to identify causes and track health outcomes. This is an observational study only—children won't receive experimental treatments, but the findings could help develop better prevention and care strategies.
