Doctors test simpler stitch for safer child gut surgery

NCT ID NCT07411885

Summary

This study compared two surgical techniques for closing a temporary colostomy (an opening in the bowel) in children. Researchers tested whether a simpler, single-layer stitching method was as safe and effective as the traditional full-thickness method. They followed 52 children for 30 days after surgery, looking for leaks, blockages, and measuring surgery and hospital time.
