Plasma from survivors could shield babies from virus brain damage
NCT ID NCT07190560
Summary
This study tests if giving newborns a transfusion of plasma (the liquid part of blood) from people who recently recovered from chikungunya can prevent serious brain inflammation. It focuses on babies whose mothers caught the virus around the time of birth. Researchers will compare 30 babies who receive the plasma with 30 similar babies who do not, to see if the treatment improves survival without brain complications in the first week of life.
